CARA's Holiday Market!
Join us on Saturday and Sunday for a special CARA weekend! A preview of some of the Holiday Market featured projects:
BEM is a curated bookstore of titles related to food and the African diaspora. BEM believes food opens a door to life, to sustenance, to love, to politics, and community. website / @bembrooklyn
Big Apple Gifts and Souvenirs is an artist-run souvenir shop that honors New York and New Yorkers. Operated and created by Azikiwe Mohammed. @bigapplegiftsandsouvenirs
Canal Street Research Association: For CARA’s holiday market, Canal Street Research Association continues their ongoing retail experiment, Çanal Street Researçh Assoçiation, in reference to the Canal Street legacy of artists using the shop as a medium. This particular market is an homage to the junk shops that once lined the block, whose surplus materials drew so many artists and curiosity seekers to create new experiments at the threshold of legitimate, illegitimate and semi-legitimate enterprise. As usual, on offer will be a selection of objects that straddle the line between real and fake, gleaned from and inspired by Canal Street, as well as select publications and artifacts from the annals of Canal Street Research Association’s archive. website / @canal_street_research
Palto Flats is a record label, event producer/presenter and publisher based out of NYC. The label’s focus is on bringing attention to underrecognized artists from throughout the world, including contemporary and archival works. The music and artists they represent are multi-genre, leaning towards the experimental, electronic and accessible. website / bandcamp / @paltoflats
SHRITS is a collaboration between artist Andrew Kuo and dealer Pascal Spengemann. We make limited edition T-shirts and hats mostly concerning artist and musicians that we admire. @shrits2000

The W.O.W. Project and Wing on Wo sustain ownership over Manhattan Chinatown’s future by growing, protecting, and preserving Chinatown’s creative culture through arts, culture, and activism. As a community-based initiative, W.O.W. envisions the future of Chinatown as one that centers women, non-binary, queer, and trans people as leaders in building intergenerational bridges of understanding across Asian American communities and beyond. Our projects include artist residencies, youth programs, and public artworks and events. website / @wingonwoandco / @wowprojectnyc
