Accessibility
For visitors with limited mobility: CARA is accessible via the main entrance located on 13th Street. A standard wheelchair is available on a first-come, first-served basis. You can book it in advance by writing to bookstore@cara-nyc.org or request it in person at the Visitors Services desk.
Elevator: The elevator is located on the ground floor. All program and exhibition spaces and restrooms are accessible via the elevator.
Quiet Hours: CARA offers visitation times with reduced noise and foot traffic by appointment on Mondays and Tuesdays between 11 am and 2 pm. For scheduling, please email info@cara-nyc.org
For visitors who are deaf or have hearing loss: American Sign Language interpretation is available for most public programs with at least two weeks' advance notice. Please contact Visitor Services at bookstore@cara-nyc.org.
Restrooms: All public restrooms are single user/all-gender and are accessible facilities.
Service Animals: Service animals on a leash are welcome. Other animals are not permitted.
Gallery Policies
Photography: Photography must be for personal, noncommercial use only. Professional cameras, tripods, and extension poles are not permitted. Video and the use of flash is not allowed. Photoshoots of any kind are prohibited. At all times, please move with consideration to fellow visitors and with respect to the artworks on view.
Personal Belongings: Bicycles, scooters/skateboards, suitcases, or large bags are not permitted in the galleries.
Space Rental
Please contact info@cara-nyc.org to discuss hosting a private event at CARA. We are unable to consider exhibition or public program proposals at this time. Availability for private events is limited and based on CARA's programmatic schedule.
